The goal was to create a unified view of user, revenue, and credit performance on a month to month basis since inception.
At Kulman Group, a wage access fintech, the mission was clear: improve liquidity for workers living paycheck to paycheck. I was drawn to the challenge of building clarity in a complex environment, and I knew better visibility into product and financial performance could drive more equitable, data-informed decisions.

Stunning results
The existing reporting relied on fragmented Excel sheets and ad hoc updates. To enable smarter product iterations and credit decisions, I designed and built a comprehensive Power BI dashboard that unified the most critical data — including user activity, repayment behavior, and revenue generation — tracked on a month-over-month basis from the company’s inception.
Rather than creating a one-size-fits-all solution, I worked closely with stakeholders across product, finance, and operations to understand their decision-making needs. This led to a modular dashboard with custom filters for customer cohorts, risk bands, and repayment types, repeat borrowers — providing each team with their own lens into the same reliable data.
Role:
My role entailed of;
Kicking off the project by running interviews across teams to map reporting pain points and define a common metrics language
Wrote complex SQL queries to pull and transform data from various internal systems
Built the interactive dashboard in Power BI, complete with filtering logic and exportable views
Designed report templates for recurring monthly insights and led training workshops for team leads
Impact
Cut time spent on monthly reporting by 80%
Equipped product and credit teams with data that led to experiments reducing default rates by 12% and increasing adoption rates with existing clients from 34% to 78%.
Enabled more confident, transparent updates to current and prospective investors
But with risks
Given the sensitivity of financial and user-level data, I implemented strict access controls and ensured that each report had clear version histories and audit logs. I also worked closely with the finance team to ensure data integrity aligned with accounting practices and compliance expectations as well the government regulatory body of Data Protection. I also ensured that each tab on the Excel workbook had a different KPI metric which was color coded for each department.
